Alumni Celebrated at CAA 75th Anniversary

Many alums were honored and participated in the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the CAA (Catholic Athletic Association) on April 15. The history of the CAA is captured in this 75th Anniversary Event video. Joe Mauer '01 and family members Jake Mauer '97 and Bill Mauer '98 were honored at the event. Paul Molitor '74, Dennis Denning '62 and Tim Tschida '78 as well as many others are in the video. Many alumni and their families attended the event to support and celebrate the CAA contributions to student athletes and build community.

 

 Chicago Alumni Event

About 25 Cretin, Derham Hall and CDH alumni attended this year’s Chicago Alumni Event, with attendees spanning from Cretin Class of 1969 to CDH Class of 2018.  The event was held at Siena Tavern, River North on April 18.

 

1970s

Benedict Clements '76 set the Virginia state record for the squat, deadlift, and total (953 pounds) for lifters in his weight class 65 and older at a United States Powerlifting Association meet in January 2024. 

 

Many alumni and friends of CDH attended the Catholic Athletic Association 75 Year Celebration, where Joe Mauer was inducted into the CAA Hall of Fame. 1990s

Jimmy O'Neill, Rich Kallok, Chris Weinke, Mal Scanlan, Steve Walsh

Chris Weinke '90 was one of four athletes inducted into the MSHSL Hall of Fame Class of 2024. The ceremony was held on Sunday, April 14 at the Intercontinental Riverfront hotel in St. Paul. Read more about Chris Weinke.

 

Former football coaches Mal Scanlan '61 and Rich Kallok visited Raider football alumni John Faison '93. John is recovering from a traumatic head injury and getting better every day. Coach Kallok presented him with “Get Well Soon” cards signed by over 100 former and current Raider football players. Along with a helmet and his jersey, it was an incredibly moving and emotional afternoon. We wish you well John!

 

2000s

Joe Adrian '00 and Matt Olson '00

Matt Olson '00 is the producer and one of the actors in a short film which was selected for the MSPIFF (MSP International Film Festival), MN Made group of films. The short film "Turkey" premiered at the Film Festival on April 22. The story is about two brothers and their ailing father taking on Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas prep duties, while dealing with the recent loss of their matriarch and what to do with her ashes. The film will have a festival run over the spring/summer. "Turkey" will be available on-line at a later date. 

Another CDH alumni, Joe Adrian '00, co-wrote the music/score for the film and was one of the musicians.

 

Congratulations to the Cathlolic Athletic Association on their 75th Anniversary and to Joe Mauer '01, who was honored as one of their Outstanding Athletes of the Quarter Century!

 

2010s

Madeline McCloughan '10 accepted a position as Chief of Staff with Augeo.

 

2020s

Stella Dolan '20, a senior pitcher, sets a Bemidji State softball record as the all time leader in appearances. Check out her impressive stats in the Bemidji Pioneer news.

Nick Freeman '21 will work as an intern with Midwest Financial Group in St. Paul this summer.

Greta Geheren '21 accepted a Tech Consulting internship at Wipfli in April.
